Mural
Private Residence, Madison, WI
A family with three children had a basement they wanted to transform — a space for climbing, jumping mats, and imagination. I could already see the kids playing as I designed it: building forts, playing with animals, exercising, dreaming. The mural was meant to be a backdrop for all of that.
What was originally a dim basement became light and airy, full of possibility. The design features flowers, hidden creatures, and a lot of mushrooms — mushrooms are particularly satisfying to paint, with all their texture and whimsy. There's a sense that if you look closely, you'll find something new each time.
Gratitude to this family for bringing me into their home and trusting me with something so personal. I hope your kids enjoy it for a long time and create many memories playing there.
