Waunakee Wings Mural

The Waunakee Wings mural on the exterior wall of Wanabike Shop is a community landmark — a pair of bold, sweeping wings that invite people to step in and become part of the art. The wings were originally painted by another artist; I was brought in to refine the details, sharpen the lines, and make sure they'd hold up beautifully for years to come.

Wing murals work because they're participatory. People don't just look at them — they stand in front of them, spread their arms, and suddenly they're flying. It turns a blank wall into a destination.

Being part of bringing this piece to its full potential for the Waunakee community was a privilege. The shop sits on a busy corner, and the wings stop people in their tracks every day.
